52322 (L&YR 1300, LMS 12322 & BR 52322)

Built in 1895 at the L&Y works at Horwich (Bolton) this locomotive has visited the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway on hire twice, most recently in 2022.

The veteran locomotive was withdrawn from service in 1960, being purchased by Leonard Fairclough, a Lancashire Civils Company.

Later, the locomotive was transferred to Steamtown (Carnforth), the East Lancs Railway and subsequently purchased by Andy Booth (the current owner) in 2003.

It’s also been based at the Ribble Steam Railway (Preston), returned to the East Lancs and also travelled to other heritage railways such as the Spa Valley Railway on hire.

The Yorkshire Dales Railway Museum Trust hired the popular locomotive for a second time in 2022.
