Permanent Way Team

Our Permanent Way department is the team who maintain our many miles of track.

In addition to regular maintenance, they also undertake special projects such as:

• new sections of track down Embsay station car park which now holds the Mk 3 sleeping carriage (members accommodation), steam crane and GWR Toad
• track relays (in winter, the railway sometimes closes down for a few weeks whilst a section of track is replaced)
• ongoing track extensions at Bolton Abbey (as part of the ongoing development of the Bolton Abbey site)

Enable Hire

During the construction of the recent siding (“the 6th road”) down Embsay car park, we were helped with some corporate sponsorship from Enable Hire – who donated a rail drill – after our own developed a fault.

We are extremely grateful for their support to help the team complete the project.
