Went with my fiancée, Diane, as I’d treated her to a signal box experience. We were greeted at 09:30 by Tim and introduced to Allan, who was signalman of the day. We were shown to the signal box and everything was explained regarding safety, the points layout and signalling. Allan made it very interesting and didn’t hold back on anything. The engine was attached to the train and we saw it off to Bolton Abbey prior to having a coffee and looking round the station area. Before the train came back the points and signals were set and as railway buffs, we found the whole experience brilliant. We then went on the train as passengers getting out at Bolton Abbey to have sandwiches and ginger beer from the station café, where we sat outside on the capacious lawn in the sunshine. The ride is very scenic with locomotives and rolling stock for any train fan to enthuse about on the way, and everybody is so welcoming and friendly. Tim and his team do a wonderful job here and if I won the lottery I’d certainly help to fund this wonderful project. Thank you all very much.
