ACCESSIBILITY

Car parking spaces are reserved close to both station buildings for ease of access. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets at both Embsay and Bolton Abbey stations.

On the normal service trains there is usually a specially converted Wheelchair Saloon, which can be easily accessed via a ramp – the Station Staff or the Guard will be happy to assist.

Due to their historic construction, the Stately Trains carriages do not have specific accommodation for wheelchairs. However, our Guards and Station staff will do their utmost to assist passengers with a disability to board.

“Wheelchair Friendly!”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 16 August 2011

I visited this attraction with my daughter who is a wheelchair user and was very impressed with how helpful the staff were.
We have visited places in the past and have sometimes been made to feel like an inconvenience even in places advertised as wheelchair friendly.
Our experience on the railway was at the other end of the scale! All of the staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Boarding the train was easy, via a special ramp and plenty of room for wheelchair once on board. Would definitely recommend this attraction to others.
