The Selby FowlerThis Fowler locomotive arrived recently at the railway from Selby. It is unnamed and become part of the Railway's collection of ex-industrial locomotives, as it was built and worked in Yorkshire. Prior to working at Selby, it was used in Hull. More details will be added here as they are researched! Coincidently, the number of this loco (4200003) differs by one digit to our other Fowler, H.W.Robinson (4100003). Despite its appearance, it is not in very bad condition at all, and to the surprise of some of our members, it was started and ran under its own power upon arrival, as can be seen in the photos below. Despite this, it is not intended to run it again until it has been restored fully to working order. This is to take place once M.D.H.B.No.36 is completed in 2008. It will then enter the workshops to be fully overhauled and outshopped as a serviceable shunter. Hopefully the same attention will be given to the other Fowler, which will make for an interesting pairing! More photos of the Selby Fowler at Embsay
