These photos were all taken by Gordon Findley & David Cash and loaned to the Railway for reproduction. They show the
early days of the society running top-and-tailed trains, and were all taken on the 6th August 1972.

The East end of the goods shed is visible as 'Chemicals', 0-4-0ST Barclay No.1823 of 1924, heads past with one of the
Altrincham Electric Railway Preservation Society's coaches on the push-pull working along with 'Fred'.

The locos pictured here have suffered very different fates. On the left is Sentinel Ann which was fully
restored to working order by 1997. On the right is an engine that had a very interesting career, built by W.G.Bagnall in 1921
as their No.2178 (or 2718?) being delivered new to the Salsette Trombay Railway, Bombay and then being brough back to England
and working at Alpha Cement before being transferred to Shipton on Cherwell in Oxfordshire. The loco was sold by the Railway,
in order to pay transport costs of another loco, to an individual who then scrapped it. The same person acquired locos in the
Railway's name at discount prices (or free), and then profited from scrapping them.

At the other end of the station, on the other end of the coach, is 'Fred' a large Avonside loco which now resides in Belgium.
