On selected Summer Saturday evenings you can enjoy an excursion in the award-winning 6-wheeled Victorian carriages.
Cheese and Wine Pairing
The classic matching. Exploring the differences in cheese and wine and their flavours. The tasting will look at how they are traditionally matched alongside some interesting new matches to ponder. A talk and tutored tasting on a diverse range of cheese types exploring how they are made and why they taste different. Featuring the finest farmhouse cheeses available in the UK. The talk is by Andy Swinscoe of The Courtyard Dairy, Settle: Andy developed his expertise in traditional farm made and unpasteurised cheeses whilst working for The Fine Cheese Co. and Paxton & Whitefield (Britain’s oldest cheesemonger). In 2010 The Duchess of Northumberland awarded Andy a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship to explore the art of ‘cheese maturing’ in France. Andy finally completed his ambition and opened a cheese maturing facility and shop in Settle late last year. The Courtyard Dairy’s mantra is to champion the finest unpasteurised farm made cheeses in Europe.
The steam-hauled train leaves Embsay at 18.30. Included in the price is First Class travel on the vintage train, and the wine & cheese tasting session.

We’re running the Wine & Cheese Evening in conjunction with ‘Cheesemonger of the year’ Andy Swinscoe from T H E C O U R T Y A R D D A I R Y, (Settle), so you are assured a discerning selection of cheeses and a knowledgable talk from Andy.
SPECIALIST DIETRY REQUIREMENTS
We do our best to cater for individuals with specialist dietary requirements. The information below summarises which of our Dales Dining events are suitable for vegans, vegetarians and coliacs.
Vegetarian suitability: The Curry Express, Cucina - The Italian Dining Experience, Fish & Chips Specials, Breakfast Train, Ploughman's Lunch, Afternoon Teas, Wine & Cheese, Winter Warmers and Cream Teas. These events are either vegetarian or have an alternative vegetarian option. Select vegetarian tickets in the checkout (if available). The Wine & Cheese, Winter Warmers and Cream Teas are all meat-free products and thus for these events specifically vegetarian tickets are not available.
Coeliac suitability: The Curry Express and Cucina - The Italian Dining Experience. The vegetarian option of vegetable ginger curry is gluten-free, and likewise for the Italian night, the vegetarian option is also gluten-free. Also, the Cream Teas, The Ploughman's Lunch, and Winter Warmers can be made with gluten-free scones and rolls etc. Select the vegetarian or gluten-free tickets in the checkout.
