Stoneacre was reached in 1991 and a run-round loop was built. The original plan had been for a station to serve Draughton, as thje Midland Railway had originally intended, but problems with access prevented this. When the extension to Bolton Abbey was opened, the need for a passing loop half way along the line was noted, and so Stoneacre was signalled as a passing loop using a newly built signalbox to control the slightly extended loop. This came into operation in 1997/8. Photos will be added here shortly - see the old Stoneacre Loop 1 and Stoneacre Loop 2 galleries.
