The Hambleton Valley Miniature Railway will operate on most days when trains are running on the main railway
(see the timetable for details). It is a 7 1/4"
gauge railway, whose main station is located beside Bolton Abbey's station lawn and travels across the station drive,
currently totalling 220 yards.
The line features an overall station roof (made from an ex-LNER BZ's roof hoops!), an engine shed, workshops, carriage shed,
level crossing and several stations.
All journeys commence at Woodside station which is accessible through Bolton Abbey station.

The route of the Hambleton Valley Miniature Railway is seen almost in its entireity here, with the first view from the corner
of Bolton Abbey station's lawn, and the second from the engine shed. At this point the track had yet to be laid.

A pile of new sleepers sits ready for tracklaying, while work on the shed is continuing with it now resembling a building.

Andy Lister is seen hard at work (and not escaping the photos this time!) on the roof of the engine shed, which is built in
the same style as the rest of Bolton Abbey station so as to fit in. The entire trackbed can be seen in the middle photo as it
curves round the lawn to terminate alongside Wheldale (behind the hanging basket) in the Duke's
Siding bay.

The terminus of the line is 'Hambleton Hollow' which is located alongside the bay platform where Wheldale
is on display. During the Summer the floral surroundings make for an attractive view.

The Railway's own 'Toby' with a couple of 'enthusiastic' members bellowing! A second loco to a similar design has
recently been bought, and can be seen to the right.

Inside the shed, and the second track has been laid (although not connected up yet), and the floor has been brought up so
that it is level with the rail head.
