|
2010 sees the 65th Anniversary of the publication of the Reverend W. Awdry's Thomas the Tank Engine books - 'The Railway Series'. The Railway has been selected to host a Party with Thomas on the Saturday of the Spring Bank Holiday weekend Day Out with Thomas event, where there will be lots of extra give aways and activities, as well as all the usual features detailed on the main page. Thomas will be pulling trains from Embsay station along with Mavis - you can ride in Annie and Clarabel. The celebrations start with the Official Opening by Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller, at Bolton Abbey station at 9:45am. Earby Brass Band will be performing at Bolton Abbey before moving to Embsay for the rest of the day. Trains will be running every half hour, as usual, from both stations. Thomas will be running from Embsay, with Annie, Clarabel and their friends, helped out by Mavis every half hour from 10:25am. You can also help give Thomas a drink (every hour from 11:15am until 4:15pm) or a special anniversary coal cake (every hour from 10:45am until 4:45pm). The Fat Controller will be performing a special Song and Dance routine at Embsay at 11:20am, 1:20pm and 3:20pm. There are competitions being run, with prizes which will be awarded by the Fat Controller. The full details will be given out with your tickets. Don't miss the professional storytellers at Bolton Abbey station in the Imagination Station at 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Why not come along and enjoy the festivities?
